Richmond has bolstered its list with the addition of defender Jodie Hicks and midfielder Ally Dallaway via a trade with GWS Giants today.

In exchange Richmond has parted ways with picks No. 30 and 69 overall at the 2023 AFLW National Draft.

Richmond will also receive pick No. 43 overall from GWS as part of the deal.

Hicks was a first-round pick (No. 5 overall) at the 2017 AFLW Draft and boasts 40 matches of AFLW experience.

A skilful player, with high football IQ, poise, and composure with ball in hand- Hicks can both set the game up from defence or lock down on a forward.

Hicks, 26, arrives in career best form, having not missed a game in the past two seasons and finishing fourth in the Giants’ Season 7 best and fairest.

Playing as a defender Hicks has averaged 12 disposals, 3.8 tackles and 196.5 metres across 20 matches.

Away from football, Hicks is a talented cricketer and spent four years with the Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League.

Dallaway, 24, has not missed a game in the AFLW since winning her spot onto the list in the 2022 AFLW Pre-Season.

Across 30 games the reliable midfielder has impressed with her strong work ethic, two-way running, and professionalism.

The former East Coast Eagle in the AFL Sydney competition averaged 12.5 disposals, 4.8 tackles and 1.5 clearances in 2023.

Dallaway who was a nominee for the AFLPA’s best first year player in 2022 will complement the AFLW Tigers’ already strong midfield mix.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan said it was pleasing to add two established players to the list.

“Jodie is a natural footballer that has been exposed to elite standards across two sports. We see a lot of upside in her already impressive game, and are particularly excited about her ability to play multiple roles in defence or across the midfield and wing,” she added.

“Ally is a powerful midfielder, she is tough, courageous, has great speed and plays the Richmond way.

“We think Jodie and Ally will fit right in and look forward to getting them to the Swinburne Centre.”

Richmond currently holds picks 11, 29, 43 and 49 in next Monday’s 2023 AFLW Draft.
