Talented Richmond youngster Corey Ellis will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a hip flexor injury he sustained in last Friday night’s loss to West Coast.

Ellis was subbed out during the second quarter, with scans confirming the 18-year-old will spend a short period on the sidelines.

Ellis has played six of the last seven AFL games, since making his debut in Round 5 against Geelong.

He got off to a bright start against the Eagles, picking up six disposals in the early stages before succumbing to the injury.

In other injury news from Tigerland, ruckman Shaun Hampson is also likely to spend at least a fortnight out, with a knee injury.

However, key defender David Astbury has recovered from a hamstring strain and is expected to return to the field this weekend.

Astbury has missed the last three weeks with the injury, which he sustained in Round 7 of the VFL, on May 30.

And the latest return of unlucky Tiger Chris Knights is imminent, with the 28-year-old nearing a return from a hamstring tendon injury.

Knights had surgery after suffering the injury in Round 3 against Brisbane, which was his first game at AFL level since Round 7, 2013.

Veteran Chris Newman played a full game in the VFL last Saturday, his second since recovering from a groin injury, picking up 19 disposals in an encouraging display.
